Mr. Lunsford will be remembered at the Oakton HS band camp concert at Orkney Springs on Saturday Aug. 19th at 7:00. Many members of the former Fall Church Band , including Oakton band director Cheryl Newton will be attending this memorial concert. Jan Lunsford will also be there as will many other band directors who want to pay respect to Mr. Lunsford's memory. A few of us from Robinson are planning to be there as well. If you can make it come on out.

Just a quick trip report. I met up with Jan Lunsford, Mark Mason, his wife and 14 year old son at Orkney to catch the memorial concert last night. Unfortunately, Rick Briggs had a leg infection and couldn't make it but we still had a Robinson presence there. There were about 15 or so former Falls Church band members from the 1960's there also including Cheryl Newton who is the band director at Oakton HS. Lots of nice tributes to Mr. Lunsford and good stories of his days at Falls Church HS. Not many teachers have students who are so connected that they get together over 40 years later! That really says something. Mark is going to stop by Mr. Lunsford's grave site in Mill Gap VA on his way to home to Covington VA to pay respects.

Bill,
Thanks for the update. Like you, I am amazed at just how much the band has influenced my life and how we are still connected through it.
